Jim and Lynn were married on September 20, 1986 at First Baptist of Ellisville, MO. by Pastor Charles Murray and shortly after that moved to Collinsville, IL. to be closer to Lynn’s family.  Their son Michael was born on July 12, 1987 and is now a very successful IT Security analyst for a multi-billion dollar hospital corporation in Nashville, TN. Their first daughter Anna was born on July 1, 1990 and is a very gifted hair stylist at Sizzor Shak in downtown Collinsville. Anna married Adam Linnell on October 30, 2010. Adam is the son of our Pastor of Worship at FBC Collinsville. Their daughter Grace was born on December 12, 2001 and is enrolled in Maryville Christian Academy and is entering the fourth grade.

Jim has spent his entire business career in sales. As mentioned in his testimony, Jim was eighteen when his mother died giving birth. Jim immediately dropped out of college and went into a career in retail sales. He became a buyer at Rich’s Department Store in Atlanta, GA.  From there he was hired by a company to sell sophisticated electronic security systems to retail stores. He was rookie of the year, Salesman of the Year and rose to Regional Sales Manager of that company. Eventually he was approached by a former executive of that company to join him in the industrial paint manufacturing industry. He rose to VP of Sales for that company and after leaving there became VP National Sales Manager of another international paint manufacturer. Currently Jim is Regional Sales Manager for a company that makes chemicals that improve the performance of industrial coatings in oil refineries, power generation plants, coal mines and other heavy industrial applications.

Jim was ordained as a Deacon at First BaptistChurch of Maryville in 1991. In the various churches that Jim has served he has helped start up and run various ministries. He helped form a singles ministry,  was instrumental in overhauling the Wednesday night programming from a traditional Discipleship Training program to what is still called “Equipping University”. That program helped increased attendance tenfold and beyond. He led the Personal Evangelism Committee. He was instrumental in placing a number of billboards in the community with evangelistic messages and saw people come to the Lord as a result of those efforts. During this time Jim was the young adult Sunday School teacher.  He was approached by one of the members to preach at Greenville Federal Prison, which he did for approximately eight years. He has taught adult bible studies at every church in which he has served. At First Baptist Church of Collinsville Pastor Mike Hurt asked Jim to fill in for him on Sunday evenings for the hour long bible study. This enabled Mike to take a break and served as a catalyst for his being in the pulpit after Pastor Mike became seriously ill.

At some point in his pulpit ministry, Jim felt that the Lord had indeed called him to preach His word. Jim was ordained to the gospel ministry by First Baptist Church and the Conservative Baptist Association on May 29, 2011. He is still in the pulpit at First Baptist to this day. Jim is prayerfully open to what the Lord has in store. The Lord providentially placed him in the pulpit and has used him in significant ways. He is not willing to back down from that call and is excited to see what the Lord has in store for the immediate future.
